Kobler is based on the Fleurieu Peninsula, close to Victor Harbor, and provides professional mobile alpaca shearing throughout South Australia.
Our South Australian shearing season generally begins in late September, after we return from the interstate tours, and continues through to March. This allows us to work with owners across a wide range of climates and farming regions, from the cooler South East through to the Mid North and Yorke Peninsula.
We shear alpacas for established breeding operations, commercial herds, hobby farms and owners with only a few much-loved pets.

Our South Australian Shearing Season
The main South Australian season generally runs from late September through to March.
October is often a particularly busy month, when we work with several of South Australia’s larger and long-established alpaca breeding operations. These jobs require careful scheduling and an experienced team capable of working efficiently through large numbers of animals.
However, large herds are only one part of what we do.
We also genuinely enjoy working with pet owners, lifestyle properties and hobby breeders. A small mob of one, two or three alpacas receives the same professional care and attention as a large breeding herd.
Professional Mobile Alpaca Shearing
Our standard South Australian shearing team consists of an experienced shearer and rousie.
Working as a team of two allows the shearing process to remain organised and efficient. While the shearer handles and shears the alpaca, the rousie assists with the table, manages fleece, trims toenails, administers any vaccines and vitamins and helps keep the work area moving safely.
Our standard service includes:
- professional table shearing;
- routine toenail trimming;
- an experienced shearer and rousie;
- practical husbandry advice where required;
- 5-in-1 vaccination;
- Hideject Vitamin ADE;
- Selected animal health treatments can also be provided by prior arrangement.
We generally do not supply worming products because parasite resistance and treatment requirements vary between properties, although an appropriate owner-supplied product may be administered by arrangement.
Shearing for Herds of All Sizes
Kobler works with a broad range of South Australian alpaca owners, including:
- owners of companion and pet alpacas;
- small hobby farms;
- developing breeding programs;
- established alpaca studs;
- large commercial herds.
For smaller jobs, we understand that shearing day may be unfamiliar or even a little daunting. We are happy to explain the process, discuss suitable facilities and help owners prepare their animals beforehand.
For larger operations, our experience, equipment and two-person team allow us to move efficiently while maintaining animal welfare and consistent fleece handling.
Booking South Australian Alpaca Shearing
South Australian bookings are generally more flexible than our interstate tour dates, but the busiest parts of the season can still fill well in advance. Owners should contact us as early as possible.
We group nearby properties together wherever practical, helping reduce unnecessary travel and keep the mobile service viable for owners with both small and large herds.
