Having your alpacas penned and ready for shearing helps keep the day safe, efficient and on schedule.
Alpacas Must Be Penned Before Arrival
One of the few things we ask is that all alpacas are securely penned before we arrive.
We do our best to keep you updated with our progress throughout the day, including sending updated arrival information where available. Please use this information to make sure the alpacas are ready in plenty of time.
If we arrive and the alpacas are still in the paddock, we may be unable to complete the job and may need to reschedule.
Why We Do Not Muster Alpacas
We do not know your property, paddocks, gateways or potential hazards. We also do not arrive equipped to muster animals efficiently.
Trying to catch alpacas in an unfamiliar paddock introduces unnecessary risks to the alpacas, the property owner and our team. An injury could also affect every other owner booked after you.
Keeping the Day on Schedule
We often visit several properties in one day. Waiting while alpacas are brought in delays the next booking and can extend the working day for everyone.
Having the animals penned close to the shearing area allows us to set up promptly and begin work safely.
Need Help Planning Your Pens?
Please contact us before shearing day if you are unsure about suitable yards, temporary pens or the best way to organise your alpacas.
We are always happy to discuss your setup and offer practical suggestions.
